Police appeal after Stoke-on-Trent man and woman die in A500 tragedy
Police are appealing for witnesses after a man and woman from Stoke-on-Trent died in a crash on the A500.[1] Emergency services had descended on the South Cheshire stretch between the M6 and Weston where a car and truck had been involved in a collision. Sadly the occupants of the white Ford Kuga, a 76-year-old man, the driver, and the passenger, a 63-year-old woman, both from Stoke-on-Trent, died at the scene. Cheshire Police[2] say specialist officers are continuing to support their next of kin following Saturday evening's tragedy. Police, firefighters, and paramedics had been called to the scene at 6.30pm on February 15 with the road shut off for several hours.
Today the constabulary has issued an appeal for anyone who witnessed the collision - or has dashcam footage - to come forward. Sergeant Russel Sime, of the force's serious collision investigation unit, said: "The A500 is a busy road and as part of our investigation, we are appealing for anyone who witnessed this collision to get in touch. The same goes for anyone who has any dashcam or CCTV footage that may help us determine how this incident occurred."
Anyone with information should call the Cheshire constabulary on 101 and quote IML 2028192.
