Severe delays on M20 coastbound between junction 4 for Leybourne and junction 5 for Aylesford after crash

A crash on the M20 involving a coach and a lorry blocked part of the motorway. Two out of three lanes were closed on the coastbound carriageway between junction 4 for Leybourne[1] and junction 5 for Aylesford[2] following the accident.

National Highways said the emergency services, including paramedics and fire crews, were in attendance. Police were called to the crash at around 4pm today (February 21).

As of 5.20pm there were around five miles of congestion backing up to junction 3 for the M26 interchange and delays of around half an hour on the approach. Lengthy queues were also forming on the M26 to junction 2A for Wrotham and on the A20 through Leybourne. A motorist said they saw a coach, lorry, ambulance and police car near the slip road off the M20 just before the roundabout at junction 5.

By 6pm, all lanes had been reopened and the delays had cleared.
