Three dead and five in hospital after London weekend crashes
This only includes incidents that Newsquest London is aware of and has reported on. The crashes occurred between February 14 and February 15, in Rainham, Upminster, Romford, and Kent. Details of each incident are from the relevant police and ambulance services.
On February 14, the A13 in Rainham was brought to a standstill[1] following a crash involving two cars at 4.30pm. The incident occurred on the eastbound approach near the Ferry Lane Interchange, with reports of traffic in the opposite direction stopping to help those involved. The crash saw two air ambulances flown to the scene and land in a nearby field, with a road closure remaining in place until the following day.

Another man, the driver of the other car, was taken to hospital with potentially life-changing injuries. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: "A man in his early 40s who was the passenger in one vehicle, and a man in his mid-40s who was the driver of another vehicle were treated at the scene but sadly died from their injuries.
Their next of kin have been informed. "Another man in his mid-40s and the driver of a vehicle involved in the collision was taken to hospital for treatment where his condition remains life changing but not life threatening. "Detectives would like to speak with anyone who witnessed the collision or captured it on dash cam."

In Kent, a 71-year-old died after being struck by a van on the M20[2] on February 14. Police reported that a blue Kia came to a stop on the hard shoulder between junctions 8 and 9 coastbound at around 10.20pm.
The driver of the car, an elderly man, was hit by an Iveco box van after exiting his vehicle. He was declared dead at the scene, whilst a female passenger was treated for minor injuries. A spokesperson for Kent Police said: "Investigators are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision on the M20.
"The driver of the van is assisting officers with their enquires. "Kent Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit is investigating and urges anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them." A significant number of emergency service vehicles were dispatched to the scene (Image: Yisi Lew) Near Upminster, a crash on the A127 Southend Arterial Road[3] resulted in three people being taken to hospital on February 15. Emergency services were alerted to the crash involving two cars at junction 29 of the M25 at 4.30pm. A police spokesperson said: "Police were called at 16.30hrs on Saturday, 15 February to reports of two cars in collision on the A127, Folkes Lane.
"Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended. "Three people were taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries. "No arrests have been made."
The same day in Romford, a person was taken to hospital following a morning crash on the A12 Eastern Avenue East by Gallows Corner[4]. Police were alerted to the incident at 8.30am, with reports noting that a car and a van were involved on the London-bound approach. A Met spokesperson said: "Police were called at 8.33am on Saturday, February 15 to reports of a road traffic collision on the A12, near Gallows Corner.
"Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended and found a car and a van in collision.
"One person was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries."
