Tragedy as driver in 90s dies in Staffordshire crash
An elderly driver in his 90s has died in a crash. The OAP passed away in hospital hours after the crash. He had been driving a white Nissan Qashqai when it was involved in a collision with a white Peugeot van on the A51 in Hixon[1].
The crash happened at 3.40pm on Monday, February 3. A Staffordshire Police[2] spokesman said: "We are appealing for information after a man sadly died following a collision. We were called to the A51 in Hixon.
Officers attended and a white Nissan Qashqai had been involved in a collision with a white Peugeot van. "Colleagues from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service[3] attended the scene to help remove the car driver from their vehicle. The driver of the Nissan was taken to hospital by ambulance.
He sadly died in hospital later that evening. His next-of-kin have been informed and are being supported by specially-trained officers at this time." Any witnesses should call the police on 101, quoting incident number 428 of 3 February.
