Update on M5 crash which saw lanes closed and traffic delays
The incident, which involved a car towing a caravan, happened just before 11am on the M5 southbound carriageway between junctions 3 (Quinton) and 4 (Bromsgrove). The emergency services were called to the incident and two lanes of the motorway were closed, resulting in delays of up to 45 minutes and three miles of congestion. But West Midlands Ambulance Service has today confirmed they were stood down on arrival as luckily no-one was injured.
A spokesperson for the ambulance service said: "We were called to a two-vehicle RTC on the southbound M5, between junctions 3 and 4, at 10.55am on Saturday. "However, just as an ambulance arrived on scene we were immediately stood down as there were no injuries." West Mercia Police said of the incident: "A call was received around 11am on Saturday morning with a report of a road traffic collision on the M5, southbound, just before junction 4.
"Officers arrived to find one car involved and the caravan it was towing had jack-knifed.
"Thankfully, there were no injuries to report."
