Van crashes on level crossing

Trains have been cancelled between Shrewsbury and Hereford after a van crashed on a level crossing, with photos from the scene showing it to have come to rest on its side across the railway.

National Rail said services on the line would not run on Tuesday evening after the crash on the A49 at Onibury, Shropshire.

It said no trains were involved in the incident and that the barriers at the crossing were raised at the time of the crash.

Emergency services were on site and Network Rail engineers were assessing damage to the crossing, the company said.
