Van driver injured in crash on J8 M5-M6 motorway slip road

The incident, involving two vehicles, happened just before 7am near Walsall, resulting in traffic tailbacks. West Midlands Ambulance Service said its paramedics attended the scene and treated an injured van who was taken to hospital. A spokesperson for the service said: "We were called at 6.49am this morning to reports of a two vehicle RTC where the M5 slip road meets the M6 just before junction 8, Walsall.

"An ambulance and paramedic officer were sent to the scene.

"The driver of a van, a man, sustained injuries not believed to be life threatening and was treated on scene before being conveyed to Midland Metropolitan University Hospital."

According to the latest traffic report from Inrix, there remains heavy traffic in the area due to the incident.
