Woman arrested after elderly pedestrian struck by car on Marchwood bypass is released under investigation

A WOMAN arrested after a pedestrian in his 80s was badly hurt in a collision on a busy Waterside route has been released from custody. Police are continuing to investigate the incident in which the local man was struck by a Hyundai Tucson on the A326 Marchwood bypass at its junction with Staplewood Lane around 3pm on Tuesday. As reported[1] by the A&T, the casualty suffered serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to hospital.

A Hampshire force spokesperson has confirmed to the A&T that after her arrest on suspicion of drug-driving, a 43-year-old woman from Totton has since been released under investigation.

Emergency services dealing with the collision and examinations of the scene saw road closures in place for over seven hours.
