21-year-old from Carlisle killed in crash with HGV on A7

The crash, between Westlinton and Blackford, was reported at 11am on March 20 and involved a Peugeot 208 and an HGV. The driver of the Peugeot was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene and has now been identified as Ella Bush, 21, of Carlisle. There has been an outpouring of tributes[1] to Ella since the news broke.

The driver of the HGV was uninjured. The Great North Air Ambulance was also called to the scene as the road remained closed throughout the day. [2] Police are appealing for witnesses following the fatal incident.

A spokesperson from Cumbria Police said: "Anyone with information relating to this incident can report online at www.cumbria.police.uk/report-it[3], quoting incident number 44 of 20 March 2025. "You can also phone on 101.
