A417 near Cirencester closed due to crash between car and lorry

According to the AA's traffic news map, a car and a lorry are involved on the A417 northbound from the Winstone/Elkstone turn-off to the B4070 at Birdlip. Meanwhile, National Highways for the South-West said on social media that the A417 is closed northbound between the A429 Cirencester and the A436 Gloucester. It added that this is due to a collision involving a car and an HGV.

The AA's traffic news map reported that the A417 is closed in the area. It added that traffic is queuing. "Road closed and queueing traffic due to crash," it said.

"A car and a lorry are involved on the A417 northbound from the Winstone/Elkstone turn-off to the B4070 at Birdlip. "Note change of location. "Sensors indicate the closure has extended further north."

In an update on its website, National Highways said: "The A417 in Gloucestershire is closed northbound between the A419 (Cirencester) and the A436 (Air Balloon) due to a collision involving a car and a HGV. "Emergency services, including Gloucestershire police are in attendance. "Diverted traffic is advised to follow the solid square diversion symbol:

"Leave the A419 at Burford Road Interchange exit slip. "At the first roundabout, take the third exit onto the A429. "At the second roundabout, take the second exit onto the A429.

"At the first set of traffic lights, turn left onto the A429. "At the second set of traffic lights, continue straight on. "At the roundabout, take the first exit onto the A40 towards Cheltenham.

"At the traffic lights, take the left slip lane and turn left onto the A436 towards Gloucester. "At The Air Balloon Roundabout, take the second exit to re-join the A417. "If this closure impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time.
