A456 St Mary’s Ringway crash police appeal for witnesses

West Mercia Police said two vehicles were travelling in the same direction on the A456 St Mary's Ringway near Weavers Wharf at around 2.10pm yesterday (Thursday, March 26). The cars, a red MG HS and a silver Vauxhall Movano, collided and the MG has continued along the road and collided with a lamppost. A man in his 70s was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "Officers investigating a collision in Kidderminster, which has left a man in a serious condition, are appealing for witnesses. "Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact PC Kyle Maries on 07973 846095 or by emailing [email protected]." West Midlands Ambulance Service said two ambulances, two paramedic officers, a MERIT trauma doctor, a critical care paramedic and the Trust's Hazardous Area Response Team were sent to the scene.

A Driver Training Unit from the Academy was also in attendance after coming across the incident and offering assistance. Crews found a car which was off the road with a man in a critical condition. A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "On arrival, crews found a car which was off the road following reports of a collision.

"They found a man in a critical condition receiving basic life support from bystanders and ambulance staff immediately took over to administer advanced life support. "He was conveyed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham with MERIT travelling on board to continue treatment en route." West Mercia Police were also at the scene and closed the road near Weavers Wharf for several hours.

One eyewitness who drove past the scene said: "I've just driven through and the traffic is all congested up to the ringway and people are having to turn around. "There's a big police van and two officers blocking off the road. It's completely closed off."

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service were also called to assist with the collision.
