Air ambulance among 999 response to serious collision as Warwickshire road closed
An air ambulance was among the 999 response to a serious collision in Warwickshire. Police closed off a section of the A423 between Southam and Long Itchington earlier this afternoon (March 24). It follows a collision between a lorry and a pedestrian on what is known as the Southam Road.
As well as police officers West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) spokesperson said that an ambulance, a paramedic officer and the Warwickshire[1] and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance were sent to the scene. The pedestrian, who has not been identified but is a man, was left with serious injuries. He was given treatment at the scene before being taken to hospital.
"We were called to reports of a collision between a lorry and pedestrian on Southam Road at 12.09pm," the WMAS spokesperson said. "One ambulance, a paramedic officer and the Warwickshire[4] and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance attended the scene. On arrival we discovered one patient, a man, who was the pedestrian. "He was treated for serious injuries before being taken to University Hospital Coventry[5] and Warwickshire by land ambulance."
Warwickshire Police[6] has yet to issue any information on the incident.
