Biker dies in crash with lorry as police launch witness appeal

A motorcyclist has sadly died following a crash with a HGV in Shropshire.

The man, who was in his 70s, collided with the Renault lorry at the A41 and Crosshill Lane junction in Sambrook at around 11.30am on Monday, March 24.

Medics were sent to the scene but sadly, nothing could be done to help the biker and he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the lorry, a man, was assessed by ambulance staff and discharged at the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service[1] spokesman added: "On arrival we discovered two patients, both men.

"Sadly, it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save the motorcyclist and he was confirmed dead at the scene.

"The driver of the lorry was assessed and discharged at the scene."

West Mercia Police are now appealing to anyone with information about the crash to come forward.

A spokesperson said yesterday (March 24): "We are appealing for witnesses after a man sadly died following a collision in Shropshire this morning (24 March).

"The collision happened around 11:30am on the A41 at Sambrook, near Hinstock, when a blue Yamaha motorcycle collided with a Renault HGV.

"The motorcyclist, a man in his 70s, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

"Officers would like to speak to anybody who may have seen the collision or from anybody who has dash cam footage from around the time it happened.

"It is believed that some witnesses to the collision may have left before officers arrived.
