Biker killed in crash on the A494 this morning
A biker has died after a crash on the A494 this morning. The incident near Llanferres - between Ruthin[1] and Mold[2] - happened at shortly after 9am this morning. It involved a Honda motorcycle and a Mercedes Sprinter van.
The emergency services responded but the biker was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Police are now appealing for witnesses. North Wales Police[3] said: "At 09:16 police received a report of a collision on the A494 at Llanferres involving a Honda motorcycle and a Mercedes Sprinter van.
The emergency services attended however sadly; the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin and the Coroner have been informed." Detective Sergeant Katie Davies of North Wales Police' Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: "Our condolences go to the man's family and friends at this difficult time.
"We are appealing for any witnesses, or anybody who may have been travelling along the A494 just prior to the collision and who may have dash cam footage to contact us."
The road remains closed (3.30pm) but is expected to re-open shortly.
