Cyclist ‘seriously injured’ in Shrewsbury crash as police make plea for witnesses

A cyclist was left "seriously injured" following a crash in Shrewsbury yesterday, Friday February 28.
West Mercia Police are investigating after the crash, which took place between a van and cyclist on Hanwood Road in Shrewsbury.
Officers said a male cyclist in his 50s sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital.

Police said he remained in a critical condition on Saturday March 1.
West Mercia Police said on Saturday that no arrests had been made after the crash, which occurred on Hanwood Road, close to the A5 at around 4:30pm on Friday.
Hanwood Road is a key route that runs out of Shrewsbury.
The force confirmed the crash involved a white Nissan van and the cyclist.
A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: "We are appealing for witnesses following a collision between a van and a cyclist in Shrewsbury yesterday (Friday 28 February) afternoon.
"The incident happened at around 4.30pm involving a white Nissan panel van and man on a bicycle travelling in the same direction on Hanwood Road, towards the A5.
Article continues below"The cyclist, a man in his 50s, sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital where his condition is critical but stable.
No arrests were made.
"We would like to hear from anyone who may have captured the collision on their dash cam or witnessed it to contact PC Ashley Ford at [email protected] with any information, quoting incident number 368i of 28 February."
