Driver charged after death of Thornbury man Tyler Carley
Tyler Carley, aged 20, was a passenger in a scaffolding lorry when it overturned in a collision on the A4174 near Mangotsfield in December 2023. Tragically, he died at the scene. Michael Ronner, aged 38, of Summer House Way, Warmley, has been charged with causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving.
He is due to appear at Bristol Magistrates' Court today, Tuesday, March 25. In a statement, Tyler's family described him as a 'beautiful boy' who loved taking holidays with his friends and family. Tyler - who previously attended Castle School - was also a Bristol Rovers season ticket holder.
A minute's applause in Tyler's memory previously took place in the team's Boxing Day fixture against Portsmouth in 2023. A spokesperson from Avon and Somerset Police said: "A 38-year-old man has been charged in connection with a collision in Mangotsfield in which 20-year-old Tyler Carley died. "Following an investigation, Michael Jon Ronner, of Warmley, in South Gloucestershire, has been charged with causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving."
"Sadly, our whole world got turned upside down on December 5 when we lost our beautiful boy Tyler," the family statement reads. "He went to work that morning fully intending to come home and texted his mum just 45 minutes before the accident. "Tyler will always be hugely missed by his mum Gemma, dad Mark, brother Kylan, sisters Skye and Ronnie-Irene, step-dad Matt, step-mum Tracey and all of his family and friends.
"His death has left a massive hole in everyone's heart."
