Eight miles of queues due to M1 lorry fire
A lorry fire on the M1 has led to eight miles of tailbacks. Derbyshire fire crews were called to an HGV on fire on the northbound side of the motorway between junction 28 and junction 29 near Tibshelf on Wednesday morning. Three lanes northbound were shut due to the fire, which has sent a large smoke plume into the skies near Tibshelf.
Two lanes southbound were also shut.


Congestion stretched back for miles [Highways England] National Highways said there were delays of up to 45 minutes for drivers. It reported queuing traffic for four miles in both directions approaching the scene.
