A section of the M6 will likely need to be completely resurfaced due to a crash involving a HGV, according to National Highways: North West. The M6 has been closed northbound between junction 31 and 32 since this afternoon (10 March) after a HGV crashed into the central reservation.[9] Blog Preston understands police do not believe anyone is to blame for the incident.
A man is in hospital receiving treatment. The crash meant a significant diesel spillage affecting all lanes of the M6 north which will likely mean a 'full resurfacing operation' and that the M6 northbound will remain closed into tomorrow. There are long delays across Preston as a result of the incident.
There is six miles of static traffic on the M6 north from junction 28032 and five miles on the M61. A number of key roads are also experiencing delays, including Liverpool Road, Guild Way, Cop Lane, the A6 near Capitol Centre, Penwortham Way, Station Road, Brownedge Road, Higher Walton Road and Garstang Road.
