LIVE M6 traffic as crash forces motorway to shut and drivers told ‘find alternative route’

Emergency services are on the scene following an incident on stretch of the M6[1] in Lancashire[2]. The motorway is currently closed northbound between J31A for Longridge and J32 for the M55 Broughton Interchange. This is due to a crash, Lancashire Police say.

The force has been approached for further information. National Highways say an HGV has struck the central reservation and there is a 'large diesel spillage that is affecting all lanes of the carriageway.' Two lanes of the southbound carriageway are also closed between junctions 32 and 31A.

Drivers are being asked to 'find an alternative route where possible.'

This is a breaking news story and we will bring you updates as we get them in the live blog below
