Live updates as Cambs crash leaves city centre road closed
An overturned lorry closed a Cambridgeshire road, causing long delays, on Monday morning (March 24). Police were called to the incident on the A1139 Fletton Parkway at Hampton, near Peterborough[1], before 5.30am. A Cambridgeshire[2] Police spokesperson said just after 5.30am: "We are currently dealing with a road traffic collision on the A1139 Fletton Parkway east bound carriageway at Hampton.
Several lanes are closed. "Long delays expected for traffic coming into Peterborough from the A1." The force later confirmed that the incident had been caused by an overturned lorry. Drivers were diverted via the slip roads.
The road was cleared just before 10am, and traffic began to ease shortly afterwards. An East of England Ambulance Service spokesperson reported: "One ambulance and one paramedic car was sent to Fletton Parkway A1139 this morning following reports of a road traffic collision. One patient was assessed at the scene, but no ambulance transport was required."
