Lorry driver accused of causing death of cyclist on A476
John Evans, 62, of Llangynog, appeared in court in relation to a crash which led to the death of 52-year-old Nicolette Lewis. Emergency services were called to a crash on the A476 between Temple Bar and Ffairfach at around 5.10pm on Monday, October 9, 2023[1]. It was alleged that Evans caused Mrs Lewis' death by driving a Volvo lorry without due care and attention.
The case came before Llanelli Magistrates' Court on March 6, and was sent on to Swansea Crown Court.
Evans was re-admitted to bail, and will next appear in court on April 7 to enter his plea. In a tribute released via Dyfed-Powys Police, Mrs Lewis' family described her as a "beautiful soul".[3] "No words can be said during this very difficult and devastating time," they said.
"She was our absolute world and rock, a wonderful soul who did not deserve to leave this life so early. "We know that all she wants for us is to come together and make the most of our lives with a smile as she was always smiling, with a large glass of wine in one hand. "We shall all raise a glass of wine to Nicolette very soon.
Sleep tight you beautiful soul."
