M6 closure live as lorry crash forces carriageway shut near Wolverhampton
A section of the M6 northbound is completely shut this morning following a lorry crash. The major motorway is blocked from J10, for Wolverhampton[1], to J10A of the M54. Police, firefighters and paramedics have rushed to the scene following the single vehicle crash.
One lane is also closed on the southbound carriegway due to central barrier damage, according to traffic tracker Inrix. National Highways West Midlands wrote on social media platform X at 8.02am today: "M6 northbound closed J10, Wolverhampton, to J10A, M54, following a single vehicle collision involving a lorry. "West Midland Fire Service on on the scene.
More info including diversion to follow." The latest update on Inrix reads: "M6 northbound closed. Stationary traffic due to jack-knifed lorry from J10 A454 Black Country Route (Wolverhampton / Walsall) to J10A, M54.
Congestion to J8 M6 (Rayhall and M5 Interchange). "Lane closed on southbound carriageway due to central barrier damage. "Diversion, from J10 M6.
Drivers can take A454, A4150, A449 for J2 M54 and then A5 J12 M6."
