As Preston's gridlock continues a further crash on the M6 north is causing further congestion. A lane is closed on the M6 between Junction 27 (Wigan) and Junction 28 (Leyland). The stretch of motorway was already seeing queues due to the lane closures further up as barrier repairs continue following the lorry crash between Junction 31 and Junction 32 during Monday lunchtime.

All lanes have now reopened through the Junction 31 stretch[10] but delays remain back to the M6 and M61 interchange. The Junction 28 crash has one lane closed with queues back to the Leyland junction. Delays are expected through until at least 11am on Tuesday (11 March) as a result of the Junction 28 crash.
