M6 driver going 100mph slams on brakes after ‘spotting speed camera’

A driver seen speeding on the M6[1] at 100mph put lives at risk by suddenly slamming on the brakes. The motorist believed they had spotted a speed camera when they suddenly slowed down on the northbound side of the motorway in Staffordshire. Officers from Staffordshire Police's newly-forced road crime team stopped the vehicle and discovered it had no MOT and illegal tyres.

The car has since had cables attached, preventing it from being driven. Sharing details of the incident on social media, the RCT said: "This vehicle was being driven M6 northbound near Stafford at 100mph and braking heavily where the driver thought there were speed cameras "Vehicle had no MOT and two bald tyres!

Driver reported, and vehicle prohibited from being driven and cabled up."
