The M6 has fully reopened after an overturned lorry meant closures to the north of Preston.
Police were called to the southbound carriageway of the M6 between junction 33 and 22 shortly after 3pm yesterday (7 March) to reports of a lorry overturning in a crash that also involved a car and a van.[7] Those involved came away with minor injuries. But the incident meant the closure of the southbound carriageway and lanes on the northbound carriageway.
Lanes would later reopen leaving two lanes closed southbound and one northound. The incident meant delays of two hours for people heading southbound between junction 33 and 32. The length of the closure was due to the need for barrier repairs and to otherwise made the carriageway safe.
The road was confirmed to have reopened at around 5.45am this morning (8 March). A spokesperson for police said: "We let you know earlier that lanes 2 and 3 between junctions 32 & 33 of the M6 had closed due to a road traffic collision. "We can now let you know that the road is open for you to travel."
There are no reported delays on the M6 to the north this morning. Subscribe: Keep in touch directly with the latest headlines from Blog Preston, join our WhatsApp channel[9] and subscribe for our twice-a-week email newsletter[10]. Both free and direct to your phone and inbox.
