M6 gridlock as truck smashes into embankment and drivers ‘dodge mud’

Motorists have endured a day of huge delays on the M6 after a truck smashed into an embankment before a 'shedload of mud' shut even more lanes. Now delays remain through South Cheshire and into North Staffordshire as highways officials continue to tussle with incidents slowing up the motorway. This morning had seen the southbound closed between junctions 14 and 13 following reports a lorry had left the carriageway.

While the motorway was able to get partially back open after several hours, officials were forced to shut it again as the 'complex recovery' of the wagon was carried out. While that was going on a truck broke down just before Junction 14 which saw three lanes shut. As the network was dealing with these ongoing problems, further north, but again on the southbound there were reports of a 'shedload of mud'.
