M60 traffic LIVE updates as lorry sheds load with three lanes shut

Drivers are facing long delays on part of the M60 after a lorry overturned. Three lanes of traffic are closed on the clockwise carriageway between junctions 16 at Clifton and 17 at Prestwich and Whitefield. Traffic is reportedly tailing back to junction 12 for the M62 Eccles Interchange, with queues taking around half an hour to clear.

A spokesperson for National Highways North West wrote on X: "#M60 clockwise between J16 #Clifton and J17 #Prestwich. The 3 inside lanes (of 4 lanes) are closed due to a collision/overturned lorry and shed load. "The outside lane remains open.

Delays of 30 minutes, with congestion of 5 miles on the approach - back to J12 #M62/#M602." An update on the Inrix traffic monitoring system added: "Long delays and three lanes closed due to accident, overturned vehicle involved on M60 clockwise between M60 J16 / A666 Clifton Junction (Pendlebury) Pendlebury and M60 J17 / Whitefield Interchange / A56 (Prestwich / Whitefield) Prestwich / Whitefield." This is a live event.
