A man has died after a horror crash between a lorry and multiple cars on a motorway. Emergency services were called to the M60 between junctions 15 and 16 at around 7pm on Thursday, March 20.
Police[1] said they believe the white cab and blue trailer lorry had lost control and crashed with two vehicles. It then crossed into the opposing carriageway and crashed with a further two vehicles, reports the Manchester Evening News[2].
A man in his 60s, the driver of one of the vehicles, died following the crash.
A woman in her 20s also suffered serious injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening. No arrests have been made at this time.
The M60 was closed overnight as emergency crews worked to examine the scene and make it safe. One witness told the Manchester Evening News they had 'never seen anything like' the emergency response on the motorway last night.
All lanes have since reopened, but some delays remain in the area.
Detectives are now appealing to the public for more information on the crash. In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said: "Officers are investigating following a fatal collision on the M60 in Salford last night (Thursday, March 20), which also left several people injured.

"At around 7pm, emergency services responded to reports of a road traffic collision anti-clockwise between junction 15 and 16, involving a heavy goods vehicle. It is believed that the vehicle, a HGV with a white cab and blue trailer, had been travelling on the M60 when the vehicle lost control and collided into two vehicles.
It then crossed into the opposing carriageway and collided with a further two vehicles, before coming to rest on the verge.
