Man seriously injured after cars and HGV crash near M65
Police were called shortly before 6.15pm to the A6068 Higher Shuttleworth Road, close to Junction 8 of the M65, after reports that a Ford Puma had crashed with a Scania Artic HGV and a Cupra Born V1. The driver of the Ford, a man in his 40s, suffered a number of serious injuries and remains in hospital. "Work is ongoing to establish the exact circumstances which led to the collision and I would ask any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage which could assist with our enquiries to contact the police as soon as possible." Fire crews also attended the crash site, which led to the road being closed for a number of hours, and had to cut one casualty from a vehicle. A spokesperson for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Two fire engines from Hyndburn and Burnley attended a road traffic collision on Higher Shuttleworth, Altham.

"Crews were in attendance for two hours."
