The 'busiest' speed camera in the Warwickshire Police area was located on the M6 to M42 southbound link road, in Water Orton, just east of Birmingham[4].

West Mercia Police, which covers Shropshire, Worcestershire[5] and Herefordshire, also featured in the top 10 list.

The county came forth, recording 113,433 speeding offences, representing 9.5% of the population.

The findings were carried out by price comparison website quotezone.co.uk.

Quotezone CEO Greg Wilson said: "With such a high number of offences across different areas of the country it's clear that speeding is still very much an issue that's not going away anytime soon.

"For one area to record almost four in 10 of its population being caught speeding is quite shocking - speed limits are vital for everyone's safety.

"Aside from any safety concerns, being caught speeding could also have financial implications, from fines, to penalty points and even court appearances.

"Research suggests that just three points could raise your car insurance premium by an average of 5%.

While six penalty points could push the cost of insurance up by an average of 25%.

"At a time when people may be struggling financially with escalating costs all around them - this additional hike in car insurance is the last thing anyone needs.
