Outpouring of tributes to Ella Bush who died in A7 collision
Ella Bush, 21, from Carlisle, died in a collision on the A7 between Westlinton and Blackford[1] on March 20. The crash was reported at 11am and involved a Peugeot 208 and an HGV. Ella was the driver of the Peugeot.
There has been an outpouring of tributes to Ella and support for her family and friends since Cumbria Police announced her tragic passing. The following comments were left on the News & Star's Facebook page. Wendy Johnstone said: "Sending all our love, tragic loss of such a young vibrant girl.
Our thoughts are with her family." Chloe Louise Lowry wrote: "Rest in peace Ella, such sad news. She was a lovely girl, thinking of all her family at this sad time."
Liz Temple added: "This is beyond heartbreaking, a beautiful life taken way too soon, as a Mam my heart goes out to all Ella's family and friends." Charlotte Reddan said: "Such a lovely girl! Rest in peace Ella!
Thinking of all your friends and family." Debbie Bowes wrote: "Absolutely devastating, my heart goes out to every person that loved Ella and you are all in my thoughts." Collette Walker added: "Absolutely heartbreaking.
You were absolutely lovely Ella, RIP beautiful, thoughts to your family." Sarah Borrowdale wrote: "Devastating news. RIP Ella.
Thinking of her friends and family at this sad time." Joanne Wilkinson said: "Absolutely devastated, my heart is broken for her family." Angela Hoskins added: "Absolutely heartbreaking, a beautiful girl taken far too soon.
Thinking of all Ella's family and friends." Julie Elliot said: "Sending love to Ella's family. So sorry for your loss of your beautiful daughter."
Paul Kelly wrote: "Absolutely tragic, rest in peace, thinking of all the family." Lynda Steel said: "So very sad. Love and thoughts to your family Ella."
Police appealing for witnesses
The Great North Air Ambulance was called to the scene of the crash as the road remained closed throughout the day.[2]
The driver of the HGV was uninjured. Police are appealing for witnesses following the fatal incident. A spokesperson from Cumbria Police said: "Anyone with information relating to this incident can report online at cumbria.police.uk/report-it[3], quoting incident number 44 of March 20, 2025. "You can also phone on 101. "Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111."
