Person taken to hospital after A688 van crash at Thinford
Police and ambulance crews were called to the A688 near Thinford roundabout, Spennymoor, on Monday, March 3, after a two-vehicle smash at around 10.30am. The road was closed by police following the incident, which took place near The Fox Club pub, sparking traffic backlogs along nearby roads. Durham Constabulary confirmed that the crash happened after the van driver suffered an apparent medical episode at the wheel.
A spokesperson said there were no reports of any injuries - but the North East Ambulance Service said one person was taken to the University Hospital of North Durham.
A NEAS spokesperson said: "We were called to a two vehicle road traffic incident near to Thinford roundabout, Spennymoor at 10.26 this morning.
"We dispatched a double crewed ambulance and one patient was taken to University Hospital North Durham."
