Police close off busy Greater Manchester road after Mercedes crash

Police closed off a busy Greater Manchester road following a crash ahead of rush hour.
Officers were called out to the A58 York Street, in Heywood[1], following a collision involving two cars this morning (March 7).
The incident was first reported to have taken place at around 7.30am, according to the Inrix traffic monitoring system.
Officers shut the road between Gas Street and Aspinall Street, while queues built up on surrounding roads in the town centre.
Images from the scene showed a grey Mercedes-Benz involved in the crash, with airbags deployed.

The car appeared to have suffered damage to the rear door on the driver's side.
Greater Manchester Police[2] confirmed officers were responding to a collision involving two cars on York Street.
Article continues belowThere were not though to have been any serious injuries caused by the crash.
An update from Inrix said: "A58 York Street in both directions closed, heavy traffic due to accident from Gas Street to Aspinall Street."
A GMP van was used to block traffic on York Street until the road reopened at around 8.40am.
