Travellers in Liverpool Road, Ronkswood enforcement action

The group arrived and parked their cars and caravans on land at the Perry Wood Nature Reserve off Liverpool Road in Ronkswood, Worcester. The group is camping in the nature reserve car park after residents said they arrived at around midnight on Thursday (March 27). There are three caravans, cars and vans and dogs were also heard barking.

It is understood that the incursion will result in a court hearing that had yet to take place when the Worcester News went to press. A spokesperson for Worcester City Council said: "Travellers have illegally occupied a site off Liverpool Road. Council officers, supported by the police, have visited and carried out welfare checks.

"We are starting enforcement procedures to regain possession of the land." RECOMMENDED READING: Travellers set up camp on Perry Wood Nature Reserve car park[1] RECOMMENDED READING: Serious crash involved 'five cars and HGV lorry' as M5 remains closed[2]

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "Police have received reports of a small unlawful encampment on Liverpool Road by Perry Woods. "Officers have attended the site and are working with the local authority to resolve the issue." Julie Thorps, who lives nearby, said: "The group arrived around midnight, we haven't reported them yet but we will be doing so.

"They woke us up, especially the dog barking. "There must have been at least two caravans and a couple of cars.

"It's normally quite a quiet car park but the dog has been barking all day."
