Woman injured in serious HGV and car crash on A417

A woman has been injured and rushed to hospital following a serious crash on a major A-road in Gloucestershire this morning, Tuesday, March 4. Emergency services were called to the scene of a crash involving a car and a HGV on the A417 just after 9am this morning. The crash happened on the northbound carriage of the A-road near the Granny's Pumps layby.

The road is currently closed, with long delays in the area. Motorists have been asked to avoid the area where possible while the closures are in place. National Highways said: "The #A417 is closed northbound between the #A429 #Cirencester and the #A436 #Gloucester due to a collision involving a car and an HGV".

A statement from Gloucestershire Police said: "There are currently closures in place on the A417 northbound near the Granny's Pumps layby following a serious collision involving a lorry and a car.

"Emergency services remain at the scene of the collision, which was reported to us just after 9am this morning (Tuesday). A woman was taken to hospital to be treated for her injuries. "Motorists are advised to use alternative routes while road closures are in place to allow the vehicles to be recovered.

"Anyone who witnessed the collision but has not yet spoken to police is asked to submit information by completing the following online form quoting incident 73 of 4 March: https://orlo.uk/lemSE[2] ".
