A120 bikers killed in fatal crashes just hours apart

Police have confirmed a second fatal crash took place yesterday on the A120 between Braintree and Coggeshall. Following a crash on the A120 at around 3pm[1] on Wednesday, April 16, another fatal collision between a motorcyclist and a van took place at around 4.30pm. A 42-year-old motorcyclist died at the scene.

A 63-year-old man from the Braintree district has also been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving in connection with the second collision. An Essex Police spokesman said: "Officers closed the road while emergency services carried out their work and sadly, despite the best efforts of paramedics, the 20-year-old motorcyclist died at the scene. "Later, officers attended a two-vehicle collision on the A120 involving a van and motorcycle, also between Braintree and Coggeshall, at about 4.30pm.

"Sadly, the 42-year-old motorcyclist died at the scene.

"Our enquiries are ongoing.

"The families of the two men have been informed and specialist officers are supporting them."
