Another person dies on A61 between Ripon and Harrogate
Officers urged witnesses and motorists with dashcam footage to email [email protected] or call North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2, and ask for Drew Crossley. Quote reference number 12250060401. There have been a spate of fatal accidents on the A61 in recent years.
Lucjan Wilk was struck by a car getting off the bus[1] on the road near Knox Mill Lane in November 2023. His inquest was held last month. Four people were killed in the space of eight days on the A61 at South Stainley in September 2023.
A 59-year-old motorist died[2] and then a mother and two children, who were from Ukraine but were living in Ripon at the time, were killed in a three-vehicle collision[3] involving a double-decker bus.
The council subsequently approved plans to reduce of the A61 but this has yet to be implemented.
