Bodelwyddan fatal crash: Lorry driver is bailed after arrest
Officers were called at 8.14am on Tuesday (April 15) to the westbound carriageway on the A55, near Kinmel Park services. The body of a 35-year-old male pedestrian was discovered, and a 62-year-old driver of a heavy goods vehicle was arrested that afternoon on suspicion of offences in connection with the incident. Today (April 17), North Wales Police confirmed that the lorry driver has since been released on bail, pending further investigation.[1]
The road re-opened at 4.45pm on Tuesday, having been closed for roughly eight hours. North Wales Police said: "The man's family have been informed[2] and are being supported by specialist officers. "We are appealing for anyone who travelled along the A55 between 4.50am and 5.10 am, between St Asaph and Abergele on the westbound or eastbound carriageway, and who has dashcam footage, or who saw a pedestrian on the carriageway to contact us via our live webchat online or on 101, quoting reference C053155.
"Finally, we would remind our online readers that this is still a live investigation.
"Please do not speculate within the comments, as this may be deemed prejudicial to any potential court proceedings, and we would also ask that you respect the victim's family at this difficult time."
A Home Office post-mortem examination is also due to take place.
