Bus windscreen smashed to pieces in van crash that closed road near Bristol Airport
These photos show the aftermath of a crash on a main road near Bristol Airport involving a bus and a van[1]. The collision left the bus windscreen smashed to pieces and forced the closure of the A38 Bridgwater Road. The crash happened just one mile from the airport, was first reported at 5.30pm on Wednesday afternoon, April 16, with the road being briefly closed[2] in both directions.
It remained blocked with heavy traffic for around two hours afterwards. Photos from the scene show the damage done to both vehicles involved in the crash, with the windscreen of the double-decker bus shattered into pieces. The van appears to have left the road and hit a wheelie bin, having also suffered a smashed windscreen.

At 6.19pm, Bristol Airport alerted holidaymakers that the road was closed and that they should find an alternative route to the airport and allow additional time for their journey.
Avon and Somerset Police said no serious injuries were reported from the scene. A police spokesperson said: "At 5.33pm on 16 April, we received a report of a collision involving a van and a bus on the A38 Bridgwater Road near Felton. "Emergency services attended.
The road was briefly closed but has since reopened.
No-one is believed to have sustained any serious injuries."
The incident had cleared by 7.30pm yesterday evening.
