Driver in hospital after incident closed major Glasgow road
Police raced to Shettleston Road in the East End[1] after being alerted to a crash involving a car and a van at around 3pm on Friday, April 18, 2025. After arriving at the scene, the driver of the car was taken to hospital for treatment. Luckily, no one else was injured in the collision.
During the incident, Shettleston Road was closed between Old Shettleston Road and Fernan Street, Glasgow City Council[2] said. The local authority said the road reopened at around 4.30pm.
A Police Scotland[5] spokesperson said: "We were called around 3pm on Friday, April 18, to a report of a crash involving a car and a van on Shettleston Road in Glasgow.
"Emergency services attended, and the driver of the car was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
"No one else was injured."
The Scottish Ambulance Service[6] has been contacted for comment.
