Emergency services called to ‘overturned lorry’ at A249 Stockbury roundabout, between Sittingbourne and Maidstone

Emergency services are responding after a lorry overturned at a busy roundabout. Pictures from traffic cameras show police and fire crews at the Stockbury roundabout on the A249, near Sittingbourne[1].

National Highways says the coastbound entry slip road from A249 on to the M2 has been closed due to an "accident involving an overturned vehicle". Three fire engines were sent to the scene just before 12.30pm after an "artic lorry tipped over which was leaking fuel", a Fire service spokesman said.

Crews helped to stop a fuel leak and made the scene safe.

No injuries were reported

Police were called just after 12.20pm and remain at the scene.

Tens of thousands of vehicles use the junction every day on average.
