Live A142 updates as crash sees road blocked near Newmarket

A major A-road on the Cambridgeshire border was blocked after a crash between a lorry and car. The A142 Fordham Road was blocked from 7am between Windmill Hill (Newmarket) to Landwade Road (Fordham Abbey). The road was reopened at around 8am.

Traffic in the area has now returned to normal. Emergency services have been contacted for more information. A spokesperson for Sussex Police said: "We were called at 6.35am to reports of a two-vehicle collision (one lorry, one car) on the A142 heading out of Newmarket towards Soham (near the sewage works)."

Inrix, the traffic data monitoring company, said: "Traffic returned to normal, earlier accident on A142 Fordham Road in both directions from Windmill Hill (Newmarket) to Landwade Road (Fordham Abbey).
