M6 LIVE as drivers stuck in long delays after van overturns in crash
Drivers were being warned to expect delays on the M6 this morning after a van overturned in a serious crash. The incident happened on the southbound carriageway within junction 20A, at Lymm Interchange, just before 5am. Police shut the motorway southbound before partially re-opening it.
Traffic had cleared by 6am, according to traffic services. National Highways posted at 5am: "The #M6[1] is closed southbound within J20A due to a collision. "Traffic is being diverted via the #M56[2] westbound to J10 and is then required to return in the opposite direction to continue the intended journey.
"Please allow for extra travel time." They added at 5.30am: "Lane 1 (of 3) has now reopened on the #M6[3] southbound within J20A (#M62[4]) following a collision. Lanes 2 and 3 remain closed for recovery and clear up works.
"There is currently approx.
1 mile of congestion on approach to the incident." Travel service Inrix has said: "Slow traffic and two lanes closed due to overturned Van and recovery work on M6 Southbound at J20A (Lymm Interchange). "In lanes two and three (of three) following an accident involving an overturned van just before 05:00 this morning."
