A man was seriously injured in a crash involving a motorbike and car which closed a road in Nottinghamshire for three hours. Police[1] said a man in his 40s was taken to hospital with serious injuries, which aren't thought to be life-threatening, following the crash in Ratcliffe Gate, in Mansfield[2], just after 5.30pm on Thursday (April 3). Police have now asked additional witnesses to come forward. A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Police said: "Nottinghamshire Police were called to Ratcliffe Gate, Mansfield[3], at 5.34pm after a collision involving a motorcycle and a car at the junction with Newgate Lane[4].

"A man in his 40s was taken to QMC[5] with serious injuries not believed to be life-threatening. The road was closed until 8.24pm for investigation work. Additional witnesses can call 101, quoting incident 575 of April 3, 2025."

Officers from Nottinghamshire Police closed off the stretch of the A6191 from Newgate to Broxtowe Drive[6].

Local residents initially thought a lorry was involved in the collision - as a HGV was spotted within the cordon.
