Three more arrests after mum killed in van crash at golf course

Police have issued an update after a fatal collision at a golf course on the Staffordshire-West Midlands border. Three further suspects have now been arrested. Suzanne Cherry, 62, from Aldridge, was hit by a van on Friday (April 11) morning at 10.25am, after it was being pursued by officers through Little Aston and went on to Aston Wood Golf Club.

The mum-of-three died four days later. Police first arrested three men in relation to the crash on Wednesday, April 16.

A 51-year-old man from Bloxwich was arrested on suspicion murder, while a 22-year-old man from Dudley was arrested for manslaughter. A 41-year-old man from Worcester was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Officers said they are continuing to search for a man that was seen leaving Aston Wood Golf Club, on Blake Street, on foot after the collision. The force have now made three further arrests. Staffordshire Police apprehended a 34-year-old man, of Wednesbury, yesterday (Friday April 18) on suspicion of manslaughter - he remains in custody.

South Wales Police also arrested 36-year-old and a 26-year-old man, both of Coseley, yesterday. The pair are set to be questioned by Staffordshire Police on suspicion of assisting an offender shortly. A total of six suspects have now been apprehended, but enquiries are still ongoing.

A force spokesperson said: "We are continuing to appeal for witnesses to come forward. If you were in the area of Blake Street and Birmingham Road between Sutton Coldfield and Shenstone at approximately 10.25am on Friday (11 April), please get in touch."
