Tribute to ‘loving mother’ after fatal crash

Tributes have been paid to a "loving mother and grandmother" after a fatal crash earlier this month. Emergency services were called to a two-vehicle crash on the A131 Halstead Road, near Halstead, at about 12.50pm on Tuesday, April 1. A 65-year-old woman who has now been provisionally named as Julie Watson died at the scene[1].

Following her death, the family of Ms Watson have paid tribute to her and said she "leaves a massive hole in all of our lives that will never be filled." The statement said: "Julie will be forever remembered as a bringer of joy, good food, and laughter. "A loving mother of two sons and grandmother to two granddaughters, Julie leaves a massive hole in all of our lives that will never be filled.

A motorbike carrying a driver and passenger were involved in a crash with a light goods truck. A man in his 60s also involved in the crash remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital. The driver of the lights good truck was arrested at the scene, but has since been released under investigation and is helping with police enquiries.

The road was closed in both directions between the junctions of Gosfield Road and Rayne Hatch Wood Road while emergency services attended the scene.

Police are still appealing for anyone with any information to come forward.
