Two in critical condition after Gateshead crash between HGV and Mini

Two people remain in hospital in a stable but critical condition after a crash between a HGV and a Mini in Gateshead[1]. The A692 was closed between Sunniside and Lobley Hill[2] from around 2.15am until shortly after 1pm on Thursday following a collision between a grey Mini Cooper S and a MAN Articulated lorry. The collision occurred on the Watergate Bank, near to Namaste Restaurant.

The North East Ambulance Service[3] confirmed yesterday that the three people in the vehicles were all in a serious condition, with two taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary[4] (RVI) and a third transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital[5] (QE). The two who were taken to the RVI remain there in a stable but critical condition, while the patient taken to the QE has been discharged, Northumbria Police confirmed on Friday. "They are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have dashcam footage of the moments leading up to the vehicles colliding.

Witnesses should send Northumbria Police[8] a direct message on social media, use the live chat function on the force website or go to https://www.northumbria.police.uk/tua/tell-us-about/cor/tell-us-about-existing-case-report/[9].
