Two remain in hospital four days after Gateshead crash between Mini and HGV

Two people remain in hospital after a crash between a HGV and a car in Gateshead[1] last week. The A692 was closed between Sunniside and Lobley Hill[2] from around 2.15am until shortly after 1pm on Thursday, April 3, following a collision between a grey Mini Cooper S and a MAN Articulated lorry. The collision occurred on Watergate Bank, near to Namaste Restaurant.

Police confirmed on Monday that two people remain in the Royal Victoria Infirmary following the incident. One is described as stable, and the other is described as critical but stable. The third person who was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital was discharged towards the end of last week.

Northumbria Police released an appeal for information following the crash[3]. A spokesperson for the force said: "Officers have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision and are asking for any witnesses who were in the area at the time to contact them. "They are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have dashcam footage of the moments leading up to the vehicles colliding.
