Van, three cars, and tractor in Stoke-on-Trent A50 pile-up

Emergency services were scrambled to an A50[1] pile-up involving three cars, a van and a tractor. The incident near Longton resulted in a slip-road and one other lane being blocked. Officers and paramedics were sent to the westbound carriageway just before 8am. West Midlands Ambulance Service had previously told StokeonTrentLive the crash involved a lorry and a car.[2][3]

But Staffordshire Police[4] have said officers at the scene actually found a van, three cars and a tractor involved in the collision. It took around an hour for the vehicles involved to be cleared from the scene and all lanes to be back open. A spokeswoman for the force said: "We were called shortly before 8am today to the A50 in Heron Cross following reports of a collision.

A van, three cars and a tractor were involved. Two lanes were blocked. Officers attended the scene along with colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance Service.

No injuries were reported. The vehicles were recovered and the road was cleared by 9am." Paramedics say one woman was assessed at the scene before being discharged.
