A55 crash LIVE: Traffic chaos after collision with ‘cows overturned’ on road
A major road has been blocked after a rush hour crash[1] between a car and a trailer transporting cows, sending several animals[2] flying. Severe delays have been reported on the eastbound lane of the A55 in Conwy, Wales[3], lasting around half an hour as a result of the earlier incident[4]. Long tailbacks have been reported as a result of the earlier accident, said to have been caused by a collision this morning.

A spokesman for North Wales Police told the Mirror: "Shortly after 9.20am this morning (12 May), we received a report of a single vehicle road traffic collision on the A55 eastbound at Old Colwyn which has closed the road. "The collision, involving a truck towing a trailer, has overturned with livestock inside. "The road closure will remain in place until the scene has been cleared.
Please avoid the area and take a different route if possible." The Mirror has asked if there were any injuries from the accident.

According to AA Roadwatch, there are 28 minute delays between J19 A470 Conway Road (Black Cat) and J22 (Old Colwyn). On the eastbound A547 Abergele Road between Douglas Road and Llanddulas Interchange, diverted traffic is facing additional delays of 10 minutes, travelling at 10mph on average.
In both cases, while tailbacks are still reported to be "severe", they are said to be "easing".

A motorist at the scene has shared a picture of the crash site from this morning. The shocking image shows a car on its roof and a trailer - believed to have been transporting cattle - on its side. A number of firefighters can be seen around the stricken vehicle.
It is currently unknown if there were any human or animal casualities.
The Mirror has approached North Wales Police for comment.
